Aquarius, the water bearer, is humanitarian in nature and the full moon in Aquarius is about shifting focus from ourselves and our individual egos to others and to the wider world. This full moon is a good time to think about our connection with the world and how we may be able to contribute to making the world a better place. We each have the power to affect positive change in a global sense. Aquarius rules this global call for change. Under the influence of an Aquarius full moon we may feel the pull to get involved in the community and humanitarian causes. If we were to all embrace the Aquarian qualities of perception, compassion and benevolence it goes without saying that the world would surely be a better place. As the Age of Aquarius unfolds before us we can see the emergence of a better world and we can all play a part in taking it further.
Uranus, ruler of Aquarius, was named after the Greek sky God Ouranos, father of Kronos and grandfather of Zeus. The ancient symbol for Aquarius was the image of Ouranos pouring urns of water from the heavens as a gift to the earth.
Uranus is a planet of change and its influence brings about a surge of liberating ideas, innovation and shifts in perception which can lead to evolutionary growth. Not only can its influence have an affect on the collective as a whole, it can also bring about change for us as individuals. Uranus is the bringer of the cosmic wake up call and its influence can sometimes be quite disruptive, bringing about an event that leads us to question the status quo. It may also come as a strong desire for change, a good example of which is the Uranus opposition which occurs around the age of 40, otherwise known as the mid-life crisis. Although this full moon in Aquarius is a time to look at how we fit in a global sense, it is also an excellent time to focus on what we truly want in life, rather than what we just think we want.
This is the full moon to wake up and become conscious. As she shines her light on us we have the chance to find the light within ourselves. It is a time to achieve enlightenment, a time to seek and to find, and so is an excellent time to get in touch with our higher selves through meditation. The key phrase for Aquarius is ‘I know’.
Yet with so much to contemplate we must also acknowledge that Aquarius is very expressive and social and craves interaction with others. It is ideal to spend some of this moon’s energy with friends and family. To share our dreams, ideas and wisdom.
